By default, a student's LCISD email address is added to Canvas as their primary contact information.  Observer accounts will use the email address that has been added into Skyward for Web Access.  Canvas has the ability to send notifications, conversations, grade updates, and more through this contact information.  You may choose to only receive it through the email address assigned, or you can choose to add another point of contact.  

 

Add another point of contact (optional)

You can receive notifications via email or text message (fees may apply depending on your service and contract).  The steps below will walk you through the process of adding another point of contact if you choose to do so.  The types of notifications you receive, and how often you receive them, will be covered in the next session.  More detailed directions can be accessed through this Canvas User Guide Links to an external site..

  1. Once logged in, select Account in the global navigation.
  2. Select Settings.

With Settings open, navigate to the right side of the screen and locate the Ways to Contact options.  Here is where you can choose to add another email address to receive notifications.

Choose the communication type you wish to add. Then enter the information required and follow the steps to complete the process.  Text messaging is no longer an option.  Notifications are through email or push notifications through the app only.
